How to Coach a Group/Team

A Whole-Hearted “Herd” Experience
Greatest Engagement & Maximum Impact

with Schelli Whitehouse ~ TheEquineInspiredLife.com

As an equine assisted practitioner it can be challenging to hold the energetic space for transformation while also facilitating learning and results for a whole group of participants at one time.

Oftentimes, participants who are not directly engaged with the horse tend to…

  • Get caught up wondering what their own experience is going to be like.
  • Suffer from ‘performance anxiety’.
  • Inadvertently fall into judgment over what they think someone else’s experience should be like.
  • Check-out from ‘observer’ fatigue.

During this demonstration Schelli will work with volunteer participants to demonstrate how to coach a group of clients or an ‘intact’ team during a whole-hearted equine facilitated exercise she calls “Reflective Grooming from the Heart”.

Here's a sneak peek into what you'll experience!

Step One: Tuning ‘IN’

Schelli is going to demonstrate how to quickly shift an entire audience into a more heart-centered, resourceful state of being. A powerful tool you will be able to take-away in helping your clients to access their own resourceful state of being and to bring a group into a positive energetic alignment.

Step 2: Turning “ON”

When the participants are physically engaged in the activity their attention and intention are activated (turned ‘on’) in a way that anchors the learning of the experience for themselves. (And keeps them from mentally checking out while waiting for their turn with the horse!)

Step 3: Telling the “Story”

Coaching opportunities arise from the ‘stories’ individuals share during their experience, or as a result of the experience. The horse provides telling information as to whether or not the client is in alignment with their own story, or whether it’s something they think they are supposed to believe.

Schelli will demonstrate how to coach the participant (client) in a way that allows them to access their own inner genius and move to a new level of awareness!

The Exercise: Reflective Grooming from the Heart

The demonstration will go through an entire exercise of group coaching with horses. Schelli will provide the annotated agenda for the exercise as well at the ‘pre-reading’ assignment she shares with her clients, so you will have all of the aspects involved in order to facilitate this exercise for your own clients.

Schelli has chosen this exercise in particular because it allows for a multi-layered experience for the group in that it addresses the multiple levels of:

  • Observation
  • Interpretation
  • Awareness

Participants will interchangeably engage with the horse(s) from different roles within the ‘herd dynamics’ of humans and horses together. They will move from the role of ‘herd-mate’ to the role of human having an intimate, ‘heart-to-heart’ encounter with one horse. Each experience evokes a different set of skills and levels of perception, giving the client a richer tapestry of self to explore.

Coaching from the Heart:

Once someone has had a profound heart-to-heart experience with the horse they sometimes find it difficult to put words to their experience. As a coach it is important to ‘feel’ what is not being said and provide an ‘anchor’ for the client to take the experience with them in a way that is meaningful to them.

Depending on what comes up for the actual participants in the demonstration you will get to witness (or possibly experience) the process of coaching from the heart and helping the client and the group to anchor the learning and expanded awareness they take away from the experience!

According to the studies of the Institute of Heart Math (IHM); the heart’s electromagnetic field is by far the most powerful rhythmic field produced by the human body. It not only envelops every cell of the body but also extends out in all directions into the space around us. The cardiac field can be measured several feet away from the body by sensitive devices. Research conducted at IHM suggests that the heart’s field is an important carrier of information.

When we are touching or close to one another (and the horses) our electromagnetic fields actually share information – information that informs our brains and every cell in our body. Heart-centered interaction leads to whole hearted engagement!

You will come away with:

  • A new tool for quickly moving your clients into a heart-centered, resourceful state of being.
  • A fully annotated agenda of the exercise: Reflective Grooming from the Heart.
  • A valuable ‘pre-reading’ resource to share with your clients to help them prepare for the experience.

We look forward to having you join us in this practical demonstration of a heart-felt ‘energetic’ experience!

Meet your Facilitator!

sdSchelli Whitehouse is a practitioner of Evolutionary Development Coaching.

It’s her own philosophy based on the belief that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. And that our experience is integral to the greater whole. She believes that the positive growth of our personal life is a direct contribution to our community, and our collective consciousness. The more we (and our businesses) are in alignment with our own truth, the healthier and more dynamic all areas of our lives will be. Schelli is an advocate for the conscious experience of evolution, the ability to witness the development of The Next Highest Version of You!

One of the critical aspects of living a fully realized life is to understand and express our own unique essence. Schelli’s expertise is in guiding you to align with your own personal ‘brand’ of self expression.

Her background as a professional actor of 15 years and as an equine assisted coach and marketing consultant for the past 4 years, has given her a fluid connection to our human emotions and how powerfully influential they are to our personal and professional well-being. Schelli says that, “Tapping into your own emotional guidance system (EGS) gives us information and ‘tools’ for helping us to align with our greatest strengths and talents.” She combines this skill with evolutionary development coaching and consulting in a way that puts you in perfect alignment with what wants to happen next for you in your life and business.

A unique aspect of Schelli’s practice (for in-person clients) is the engagement of horses for ‘on the ground only’ experiential reflection.

The horses are incorporated into lessons that demonstrate and reflect the client’s hidden emotions, body awareness, communication strengths and weaknesses and a host of other unconscious habits that prevent the client or team from relating to their work or life in an authentic way.
As a professional Equine Assisted Coach and facilitator, Schelli incorporate the wisdom of the horse as an experiential learning component during private individual sessions, group live retreats and via phone or Skype (without the horse of course!)

In March of this year Schelli also joined the faculty of EquineAlchemy.com as a co-facilitator and teacher of the Equine Assisted Coach Training course based on the International Coach Federation (ICF) core competence credentialing criteria and the Epona Approach of equine facilitation founded by Linda Kohonav and Kathleen Barry Ingram.
