2014 Healing with Horses
*Festival & Symposium*
May 16-18, 2014
SE Denver, CO
*Friday Evening OPENING EVENT*
What is My Medicine?
Finding your Unique Gifts as EAL Practitioners
through the Native American Medicine Wheel
with Lynn Baskfield,
Featuring Sarah Charuk
In Native American culture and other indigenous cultures medicine is said to be that which brings us back into balance – in body, mind and spirit. Medicine is anything that heals or makes whole. Everything on the planet has medicine. Your horses have medicine. You have medicine, too.
This opening event will share two native ceremonies that create a space of healing and love, the Smudge Ceremony and a Medicine Wheel. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or new to the field, you will each walk the Wheel with horses present to connect deeply with the unique and powerful medicine you bring to your work.
In this *experiential* evening session you will:
~ Learn primarily from the heart, not the head.
Experience how ceremony helps us create a space of healing and love.
~ Learn about and participate in a Smudge Ceremony.
Learn about the indigenous understanding of medicine.
~ Find your own unique medicine as an EAL practitioner through participation in a Medicine Wheel ceremony with horses.
Come away with an activity you can use and modify with your own clients.
Don’t miss this opening ceremony! It sets the stage for all your learning at the Symposium by helping you experience and claim the medicine that you, personally, bring to this work.

Lynn Baskfield coaches women midlife and beyond as they redefine beauty, passion and purpose in the second half of life. A lifelong horsewoman, she partners with horses to evoke insights and learning that her clients cannot get by thinking, reading or talking only. It is Lynn's experience is that when her clients connect with themselves through the horses, confidence, joy and creative solutions emerge quite naturally.

Sarah Charuk is a very blessed woman who was raised in a family of love and compassion. I believe because I was surrounded with so much love, I have been able to extend that gift to others. I have been privileged with being a wife and a mother to 3 sons.
I am a social worker and have incorporated the native culture in my work as a healing tool. I try to carry on the legacy my Cree Grandmother and mother gave to me. They stand on my sides and push me forward carrying a message of love “Teach only love for that is what we are."
I currently have focused my energy on a program I have created called T.E.W.A (Together Everyone Will Awaken) after my beloved horse and teacher, where I combine the healing power of horses with spirituality on my ranch called Desert Awakenings in the beautiful Sonoran desert in Phoenix, Arizona.
